Hike Update: July 2022

July 22, 2022 by Hiren Savjiyani

Hi everyone,

It’s been a busy year and we thank you all for your love and choosing to use Hike. As you know, Hike updates are mostly based on user feedbacks because no one knows the system like you do. The July 2022 update, in fact, is entirely (100%) made of feature and update requests from its existing userbase.

Customer – Group by Tags

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

Hike now lets you add profile tags for your customer records. It will help you better define and manage your customer profiles. You can associate multiple tags to a single customer record.

You can create tags by customer’s interest types or in any other way that works best for your business. The customer gats list is located under Customers section (Customers > Tags).

New Discount Offer Type – Customer Tag

Our newly created customer tags feature is also available under discount offers. You can create discount offers by customer tag.

Discount type > Customer tags

Low inventory notification – Supplier Code Column

(Supported plan: All)

The low inventory notification now includes supplier code column. This will help you identify a product’s supplier code right from the notification. This may save you a few clicks when creating purchase orders.

SKU Column for Inventory Adjustments report

(Supported plan: All)

In inventory adjustment report, we have now added SKU beside product name to provide an additional way of identifying the product.

Also, a new sorting option added for this report will let you populate latest or earliest transaction first (whichever works for you).

Sales by Items Report – Customer name and Filter by status

(Supported plan: All)

Sales (By Items) report lets you view all the item purchased in a sale when ‘group by sale transaction’ is checked. A new field, ‘Customer name’ is included besides the sale number column for additional details. The update also includes a new filter that lets you further drill down the results for you to easily find what you are looking for.

Prompt to print receipt when Parking a Sale

(Supported plan: All)

Parked a sale, and customer requested a receipt? You need to go to the sales history page, pull up the sale and print a receipt for that parked sale. Well, no more. Now when you park a sale, the system will prompt and give you an option to print a receipt before the sale is parked.

Improvement to Stock Transfer

(Supported plan: All)

A new Notes section is added to inventory transfers. Visible to everyone, the notes section can have various uses. You can use it to share instructions and notes for receiving outlet.

Reports – Refunds excludes in COGS and gross profit

(Supported plan: All)

Hike now lets you decide if you wish to include or exclude refunds in COGS and gross profit reports. To apply this feature in your store go to Store Setup > General Rules > Reporting > Exclude refunds in COGS and gross profit reports.

Change Simple product (no variants) to Product with variants

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

It used to be a simple product, no variant. Now you have it available in more sizes or colours. Uptill yesterday, you would have been required to delete the simple (non-variant) product and create a new product profile to make it a variant product.

We have made it easier for you. You can now convert any simple product into a variant product. Simply change the product type and make all the required updates to the product profile, add variants and you are all set!

Who wants to be a Super Admin!

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

Super admin is in other words an ‘account owner’ profile. The person who creates your Hike account becomes ‘Super Admin’. However, in many scenarios you may want to change the admin name. It may be your accountant who created the Hike account for you.

Whatever the reason, Hike, now lets you change super admin for your account. To change your super admin, go to Users. The current super admin profile will show “Owner / Super Admin” badge. Click on it for option to change and allocate Super Admin role to another user.

Please note: Only existing ‘Admin’ users have permission to access this feature.

Products – Creation and Modified Dates

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

We have added created and modified date columns in product listing page. In this page now you can select two more columns. You can also add or remove these column by editing the page grid setting.

Maximum manual discount per invoice

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

Hike, now lets you (the admin) define maximum discount (in percentage) a user can offer to customers. Please note, this is applicable for manual discounts and does not take into account any existing discount offers.

To set maximum discount limit for a user, go to Users > Edit User Profile.

Let’s say we set a max discount to 20% for Jack. This will allow Jack to offer a combined line item and/or invoice level discount of 20%. If a higher discount is offered, permission prompt window will be shown requesting manager/admin approval. Admin or manager can override the prompt and authorise discount by entering his/her 4-digit pin.

Delivery Custom Report – SKU (QNT) or Product name (QNT)

(Supported plan: All)

Each business has their own set processes and may require different information fields based on their own unique process. The deliver report section provides an additional customisation so you can decide how line items are displayed.

For Items, you can choose to show either product name and quantity or  SKU and quantity.

You can select your options here: Custom report > Report sections/s > Delivery report selection data fields.

‘My inventory’ page Improvement

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

More is better when it comes to information. However, it might make your inventory page a bit busy and difficult to use with so many data columns.

Now you can choose which columns are visible on the page. This way, you can keep what’s important to you and hide other information to get what you want without making the page so busy.

With this, we have also added new information columns for your inventory page. These include:

  • Product image
  • Created date
  • Modified date
  • Retail price

Point of Sale page – Smart Search Improvement

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

It is now easier than ever to find products in the POS screen with our improved Smart Search feature. Hike will now clearly differentiate products in search result using colour codes:

  1. Items with available inventory – white background
  2. 0 available inventory – grey colour background
  3. Negative inventory – light red(ish) colour background
  4. Parent product – product name in bold text

Zero or negative inventory products will be listed at the bottom to highlight available items at top of the list.

Current outlet – default selected for reports

(Supported plan: All)

Sales reports let you choose outlet. By default, now it will auto select the outlet you are currently logged into e.g., the outlet and register that you are logged into. This default selection will be applicable for reports and sales history.

Large product name display on POS screen

(Supported plan: All)

Products with longer than 20 characters are not entirely shown. After 17 or so characters there will be three dots to suggest that the product name is too long to fit. In most cases you know your products but sometimes there are similar names and it may make it difficult to identify such products.

Now, simply hover over the product name and the product’s longer name will appear in place of the product image. This will let you view a longer product name with up to XX characters.

Formula details in sales reports.

(Supported plan: All)

The little, tiny analytics portlets present very useful information. However, you might wonder sometimes the basis of those calculation. You can now hover over the ‘i’ icon within the portlet to get more details on formula/basis of how the information was calculated.

Improved search for Sales History

(Supported plan: All)

The search function on the sales history page was very good but now its better. We have added two more parameters for transaction search. The new search value types include:

  • Sales total and;
  • Invoice barcode

(Supported plan: All)

Easily define who can open cash drawer without a sale transaction. You can easily apply it via role permissions for staff users. The permission is included under the point sale permissions.

Bulk delete variant

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

You can now delete multiple variants at once. The bulk variant delete option is now available inside product detail page within the variants list.

Go to Product -> Variants and select multiple variants for the new delete option.

Pick and pack

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

We are excited to introduce this new feature!

It will help you make sure that the orders to be shipped are correctly picked and packed.

Go to sales history, click on the order that you wish to pick and pack. With all required quantity details in front of you, now you can start scanning the items. Hike will alert if exact quantities are not picked for any line item. It will also let you It will also let you print packing slip.

Adjusting quantity manually while scanning the products for stock-take

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

When counting using a barcode scanner, currently you need to scan all items of a same product to register all the quantities. Hike, now lets you scan one and then update the quantity so that you do not need to scan it all manually.

POS Screen – Different size options for product thumbnails

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)

You can now choose from 3 different sizes for product thumbnails on your point-of-sale screen. This will let you choose if you want to show smaller product thumbnails to pack more items within the screen or have bigger, easily readable thumbnails with a slightly larger scroll list – choice is yours!

Exclude ‘on account’ sales from within the sales report

(Supported plan: All)

You now have an option to exclude ‘on account’ sales with outstanding payment from sales reports. It may or may not be suitable for you based on your current workflow. It is completely up to you if you wish to activate it. If you like to omit unpaid ‘on account’ sales from your sales totals in the reports, go to  Store Setup > General Rules > Reporting > click on Do not include ‘On account’ orders in sales reports

Additional two fields for BigCommerce customers

(Supported plan: Hike Plus)
