Social media is no longer a new trend. Most of us enjoy being a part of one or more social media networks.
However, when it comes to social media marketing for business, we sometimes still stumble upon doubts whether it is suitable for the business type we are trying to promote. In some cases, you’ve tried it without any successful outcomes. For both these scenarios, I would suggest a 5 point rule that we learned in kindergarten and that should do the trick. At least it has worked for us.
The five social media lessons learned in kindergarten and we don’t realise that we already know are:
- Play nice,
- Be yourself,
- Pay attention,
- Ask for help and;
- Have fun.
Playing nice includes rules like ‘sharing is for caring’ and use of golden words like ‘thank you’ and ‘please’. Be polite and confident.
As Oscar Wilde says, it is important to be yourself because everyone else is already taken. Don’t forget, your conversation has to reflect your brand and business culture.
Nobody knows it all so let’s pay attention to what others are saying. We could find some great insights and direction just by paying attention to what is happening in our industry.
Ask for help
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness – it is a smart way of learning new things. Learn from what social media experts have to say about new trends and tactics. There are many expert blogs and articles that could help you learn a few tricks.
In my personal view, this is the most important of all. It is important to write and share content that is fun and interesting. If you’re no having fun writing or sharing your content, your audience will snooze when reading that content for sure. You could develop a rich audience and community just by being interesting while sharing the information you need to share.
